The OWHA thanks the players who responded with enthusiastic interest to the “Road Trip” to the Worlds. We received fantastic emails from passionate players who wanted to ride that bus and play hockey throughout Northern Ontario. Unfortunately there just wasn’t quite enough interest to keep the trip affordable.

All OWHA members are encouraged to travel to Winnipeg and cheer Team Canada on to the Gold. Go Canada Go!

2007 IIHF Women’s World Hockey Championship

The Ontario Women’s Hockey Association is currently looking into ways to involve the OWHA membership in the upcoming 2007 IIHF Women’s World Hockey Championship in Winnipeg (April).

One idea is a “Road Trip” to the Worlds. This program would be offered to adult women players (20 & up) as a fun way to travel to Winnipeg for the event. Please see attached for more preliminary ideas. Please note that this information is draft only. Final details will follow if there is sufficient interest to pursue the planning.

With this email, we would like to gauge the interest level in such a program. Please forward the email to your senior players. If players are interested in the program, they are asked to please respond to: mel@owha.on.ca   Please include name, team name, division & category, phone number and email.

We currently estimate the cost to be somewhere between $1200-$1500/pp for a 12 day trip. Final cost will depend on total number of participants, accommodations (single, double, etc.), point of origin, flight destination, potential sponsorships, etc. Package price will also include game tickets for the World Championship games while in Winnipeg . Please note that fans are also welcome on the bus, if space is available.

We are also looking for OWHA teams to host games in the communities along the route. It your team/association is interested in hosting a game, please email us.
