The
Toronto Maple Leafs announced Tuesday that Air Canada Centre will
be open for public skating this Friday,
October 22. Admission is free of charge and skaters are
being encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for the Daily
Bread Food Bank as a donation when entering the building.
Participants are encouraged to arrive early to ensure a chance
to skate. The event will be segmented into 45-minute skating sessions
beginning at 9:15 a.m. and running until 9 p.m. A maximum of 250
individuals will be on the ice at any one time. A wristband, designating
only the next available skating session time, will be distributed
upon entry. One wristband per person will be granted and wristbands
indicating a time for a later session will not be issued. Skaters
are requested to enter the arena through Gate 1 (located inside
the main concourse, between the York St. and Bay St. entrances).
The arena will open at 8:30 a.m. for registration.
“Despite the National Hockey League lockout, the Leafs remain
actively committed to community initiatives and keeping our loyal
fans engaged,” said Tom Anselmi, executive vice-president
and chief operating officer for Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment
Ltd. “This event affords fans the unique opportunity to enjoy
a skate with family and friends on the same ice where the Maple
Leafs play.”
The event is being co-presented by 640 Toronto - The New Mojo Radio.
