• The 2001 Canadian National Championship was held from March 7 to 11, 2001 in Summerside, PEI. After five days of competition, it was Alberta and Quebec who advanced to the gold medal final game. Alberta defeated Quebec by a narrow margin of 1-0 to claim the gold medal.

There were eight different provinces represented at this year's Esso Women's National Championship. Each province sends either an all-star team, or the team that wins the provincial championship for the highest level of women's hockey within that province. The Edmonton Chimos from Alberta are the 1997 National Champions.
