It has come to our attention that a group calling itself the OFHC (Ontario Female Hockey Conference) has been contacting various individuals and may be offering tryouts for female hockey players. Please be advised that the OFHC is not affiliated with, nor sanctioned by the OWHA (Ontario Women’s Hockey Association), the OHF (Ontario Hockey Federation) or Hockey Canada. As such, the OFHC has no benefits of membership which includes but is not limited to OWHA/Hockey Canada insurance, participation in its programs and approval to play other OWHA, Hockey Canada, USA Hockey or IIHF teams.

Canada Winter GamesCANADA WINTER GAMES 2015

ATTENTION PLAYERS: Born between 1997 and 2000 inclusive.

The Ontario Women's Hockey Association (OWHA) will be sending a team to the Canada Winter Games in February 2015.  The Games will take place in Prince George, B.C.  This National Championship will also feature teams from each Province and Territories.

Tine ReidThe OWHA send its thoughts and prayers to Gary Reid and his family on the loss of Gary’s wife, Tina Reid. Please note the following notice from Barrie Women’s Hockey Association (BWHA).

Tina Reid

The Barrie Woman’s Hockey Association(BWHA) are saddened by the loss of Tina Reid, wife of Gary Reid(BWHA President. Tina passed away on Sunday April 6, 2014 after a long battle with Brain cancer. Tina spent many hours at the rink-supporting woman’s hockey and helping out with BWHA volunteering activities over these last 20 years. Together with her husband Gary,the BWHA and its members have truly benefited from their countless hours and tireless efforts. The BWHA executive and on behalf of the membership, wish to convey our deepest condolences to the Reid family for their loss. In honour of Tina, the Reid family is holding a memorial service on Tuesday April 15 from 4:00 to 9:00 pm at Ferndale Banquet Hall. Address- 24 Ferndale Industrial Dr, Barrie ON L4N 9W2 (705) 721-4255. Tina leaves behind husband Gary, son Cameron (Kailey) grandson Trenton, daughter Justina and grandson Owen. In lieu of flowers, the Reid family is asking for donations to the Hospice Simcoe or the Pencer Brain Trust.

CRA's website now contains a new checklist for use by organizations that are charged with determining whether their program should qualify for purposes of this new credit.  You can find the info:

Any OWHA player, team official, executive member, team, club or association, or any other Hockey Canada member found, by an investigative process, to have condoned, initiated or, to the detriment of another, participated in hazing actions or behaviours shall be subject to discipline up to and including expulsion from Hockey Canada registered programs. For the 2013/2014 hockey season, Bantam and Midget teams have been re-instated

  • Teams now registered C in Bantam and Midget, must advise registrar@owha.on.ca on or before, Wednesday, November 6, 2013 of their intention to become part of the DS programme.
  • If a team now registered C  in Bantam and Midget decides to become part of the DS programme, they will no longer be permitted to participate on ice, play games,  or enter DS tournaments, until the December 1st DS registration date.

Please be advised that benefits of membership within the Ontario Women's Hockey Association include insurance coverage as outlined in the Hockey Canada booklet "Safety Requires Teamwork", located on our website under “Forms and Policies”. OWHA members are covered ONLY during Hockey Canada / OWHA sanctioned events (league games, tournaments, practices, training camps, sanctioned fundraisers) when playing member teams only. The OWHA has NOT sanctioned any tournaments in the months of June, July or August. The OWHA does NOT support participation in non-sanctioned events.
