H1N1 Virus – Recommended Steps for all Associations and Teams

Hockey Canada has for many years had specific steps in place to reduce the spread of any infection in the hockey environment and we urge you to remind your teams of the following. Team staff need to emphasize to players and parents the need for total cooperation in all aspects concerning hygiene, but specifically to the prevention of the transmission of the H1N1 virus. Please be advised that benefits of membership within the Ontario Women's Hockey Association include insurance coverage as outlined in the Hockey Canada booklet "Safety Requires Teamwork", located on our website under “Forms and Policies”. OWHA members are covered ONLY during Hockey Canada / OWHA sanctioned events (league games, tournaments, practices, training camps, sanctioned fundraisers) when playing member teams only. The OWHA has NOT sanctioned any tournaments in the months of June, July or August 2009. The OWHA does NOT support participation in non-sanctioned events.

ONTARIO GAMES 2010

The Ontario Women's Hockey Association (OWHA) is selectOntario Winter Gamesing eight teams to compete in the 2010 Ontario Winter Games.  The competition will take place in Muskoka from March 4 to 7, 2010. The teams are currently scheduled to arrive in Muskoka for pre-event preparations immediately prior to the event - tentative start date February 28th.

ONTARIO WOMEN’S HOCKEY ASSOCIATION 2009 NATIONAL WOMEN’S UNDER 18 CHAMPIONSHIP

Congratulatios Team OWHA Red and Team OWHA Blue for making history at the Under 18 Natioanl Championship in Surrey BC. The two teams will face off in the gold medal final that will be televised on TSN2 at 630 Eastern.

Forty of Ontario’s best female hockey players have been selected to play for Team Ontario at Hockey Canada’s prestigious National Women’s Under 18 National Championship to take place November 4 to 9, 2009 in Surrey, B.C.

The Ontario Women’s Hockey Association was pleased to announce the arrival of the Women’s Olympic Hockey Team of China. Team China came to centre their pre-Olympic training camp in the GTA area September 8 to October 28, 2009.
