In Memory of Sabre

Emily Marie Jerome
July 10, 1995 - February 18, 2012

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Emily on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at the age of 16. Beloved daughter of Cathy and Brad. Loving sister of her twin Katie, her sisters, Rebecca and Sarah and her brother Alex. Much loved granddaughter of Ray Jerome. She is now being watched over by her grandparents, Mary and Ambrose Wolsley and Josephine Jerome, in heaven. She will be sadly missed by her aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends. Emily was the captain of the Stoney Creek Sabres, midget BB team, and also played for the Saltfleet Girl's Hockey Team. Special thanks to Amanda Young for all her love and support. Visitation at CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME, 322 Fennell Avenue East on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Service will be held at Our Lady of Assumption Roman Catholic Church, 63 Highway #20, on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at 1:30pm. Interment Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery. Reception to follow at the church.

Ronald Kenney

RONALD MICHEAL KENNEY September 28, 2011 Burlington, Ontario Ronald Kenney after a short illness passed away at home September 28, 2011 in his 66th year. He will be sadly missed by his children, son Joe Kenney (Kelly), son Jason Kenney, and daughter Kellie Kenney. Grandfather to Lindsey, Nolan, Audrey, Ella, James and Nicolas. Brother to Betty Poirier, Lillian (Rene) LaPerriere, Raymond (Sue) Kenney and Don (Marlene) McPherson. Predeceased by brother Chuck Kenney, father Joseph Kenney and mother Amelia Kenney. Ron will be sadly missed by all his family including his grandchildren, nephews and nieces. He was bigger than life in all their lives and could be counted on when a shoulder was needed to lean on. Ron will also be sadly missed by all his staff at RYR Sports Inc. as well as the many people he touched throughout his 25 years in business. A funeral service will be held in Temagami, Ontario, October 1, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Toronto, time to be announced.

BaileyDawn Bailey

The Ontario Women's Hockey Association is truly saddened by the loss of a long-time member and special friend, Dawn Bailey. Our thoughts and prayers are with Dawn’s family and friends.

Dawn Bailey suddenly passed away July 31st, 2011. Loving daughter of Bruce and Marj Bailey. Fondly remembered by her sister Alma Bailey. Dawn’s whole life was dedicated to the sport of Hockey through playing, organizing, refereeing, and coaching for youth and adults. The service will be held in the “Green“arena at East Bayfield Community Centre Wednesday August 10 2011 at 4 with reception to follow concluding at 6:30 pm. This is where she loved to play and would want to be remembered. It was on ice that she was happiest. The sound of her skates against the ice will always be missed.

The Ontario Women‘s Hockey Association is extremely saddened by the passing of Tony Bloomfield. Tony served for many years on the OWHA Board as a representative of the Ontario Hockey Association. Tony was a very strong supporter of female hockey and a great friend to the OWHA. We will miss his supportive voice and vast experience in the game of hockey. Our thoughts are with his son Keith and Tony’s family and friends.

Beloved husband of Audrey Kathleen (nee Chiverton, 1968) and Mary Elsie Ire (nee Meeking, 2002). Dear father of Penny Corrigan (Kevin Firlotte) of Mississauga, Jeff of Calgary, AB, Pam Yonge (Charles) of Canmore, AB, Keith (Dennise) of Grimsby, Jackie Hickson (Rick) of Hamilton, Eric (Glenna) of Warsaw, ON. Sadly missed by grandchildren Steve, Beth, Heather, Audrey (Chris), Lyndsey (Jon), Douglas (Nadine), David, Kristine, Zachary, Elliott, Carolyn, Emma and Alex and great-grandchildren Caelan, Aidan, Sasha, Amber, Zack, Colton, Brinlee, Jorja and Kesler. Also missed by brother William (the late Enid) Bloomfield O.B.E. of Exetor, England and niece Gillian of England. Predeceased by granddaughter Sarah Bloomfield (2005) and sister Nora (1922). Tony was actively involved in hockey and the community as former president of Ontario Minor Hockey Association, former Chairman of the Ontario Hockey Association, Board Member of the Ontario Womens Hockey Association, Life Member of the Ontario Hockey Association, OHA Gold Stick recipient, Grimsby Peach King Jr. B Manager, Life Member of Lions Club International - Stoney Creek Lion's Club and one of the founding committee members of the Grimsby Minor Hockey Association. He worked at Proctor and Gamble for 39 years. Visitation at STONEHOUSE - WHITCOMB FUNERAL HOME, 11 Mountain Street, GRIMSBY (905-945-2755) on Tuesday from 6-9 p.m. and Wednesday from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A Service of Remembrance will be held at St. Andrew's Anglican Church, 156 Main Street East, Grimsby on Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. Cremation has taken place. A private family urn burial will be held. Jean Simeonidi

The Ontario Women’s Hockey Association is saddened by the death of Jean Simeonidis. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her husband, Angelo, and the family. Angelo (Mr. A) is a valued member of the OWHA. He is well known and loved as a key contributor in the OWHA referee programme. Angelo is currently an OWHA supervisor.

SIMEONIDIS, Jean (nee Novak) Courageously passed away at St. Peter's Hospital, at the age of 68, surrounded by her devoted family, on June 7, 2011. She loved to cook and had a passion for gardening, but her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her cherished granddaughters. She will be fondly remembered for her selfless nature, sharp wit and devotion to her husband and children. She was not the "Clubby type" but she was a member of the "Golden Rules Club". Predeceased by her parents Nick and Julia Novak, beloved sister Olga and brother Mike. Cherished wife of Angelo "Mr. A" for 48 years. Adored mother of Phillip (Debbie) and Kristine Leach (Robert). Proud grandmother to Ashley, Lindsey and Chloe "Lolly". Loving sister and best friend to Angie. Special thank you to Father Wasyl Makarenko for his support of Jean and her family, and to Dr. Beverly Hattersley and theStaff on 3-West at St. Peter's for their compassionate care. The family will receive friends at the MARKEY-DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth), on Friday, June 10th between 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Panachyda will be held on Friday at 7:30 p.m. Funeral will be held at St. Vladimir's Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, 855 Barton Street East, on Saturday, June 11th at 9 a.m. Interment to follow in Woodland Cemetery. Joan Padmore

The Ontario Women’s Hockey Association was saddened by the loss of a very special volunteer, Joan Padmore. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.

The Toronto Aeros and Toronto Leaside Girls Hockey Association are saddened by the loss of one of its most dedicated volunteers, Joan Padmore. Joan served as Leaside’s registrar and a board member for 13 years. She later served as Treasurer and on the board of directors for the Toronto Aeros. Joan was a tireless worker, recruited and motivated hundreds of volunteers and pioneered the Senior Recreational program at Leaside. In her honour, the senior division will be re-named, "The Joan Padmore Memorial division." Joan will be sadly missed by the Toronto Aeros and Leaside Hockey Associations.

Huntsville Girls Hockey Association is saddened to announce the passing of one of our most dedicated fans and a loving husband of one of our members, Bernard Stevenson. Bernard was always there to cheer on his wife, Heather Rundle, and the rest of the Huntsville Honeys Senior C Hockey team. He will be greatly missed by the team and the hockey community in Huntsville.

“Neal, Vernon Bailey ‘Vern’ - Unexpectedly at his home in Burlington with family by his side on his 66th birthday, Friday, January 21, 2011. Beloved husband of Karen. Loving father of Marti and her husband Ron Deppner. Special grandpa of Cassie. Vern will be fondly remembered by his sisters Lynne Neal (fiancée Paul) of Maryland, Brenda Lafayette (Jake) of North Carolina, and Alison Kucharski (John) of Virginia. Vern was a tireless volunteer for Burlington Girls Hockey Club for over 20 years, and a long time coach of Burlington Ladies Slo-Pitch. Past Member of Burlington Oldtimers’ Hockey and Burlington Umpire’s Association. Member of RIBO and a recently retired Insurance Broker. Cremation has taken place. Memorial visitation at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line, (one stop light north of QEW), BURLINGTON, (905-632-3333) on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. If desired, donations in Vern’s memory to the Guide Dogs of Canada would be sincerely appreciated by the family.

Vern was a true champion for girl's hockey in Burlington and across Ontario, he will be greatly missed by many. He exemplified the standard and spirit of being a community volunteer that very few will achieve. Vern loved sports, it was his lifelong passion and our community benefited from this and we were fortunate to have been able to work alongside Vern in this regard.
