            UNDER 18 NATIONALS 2005
 

Congratulations Team Ontario Red on winning the gold medals at the 2005-06 Under 18 National Championship!. Team Ontario Red went through the round robin undefeated, shutting out Manitoba 4 - 0; Saskatchewan 5-0 and Alberta 3-0. In the semi-final, Team Ontario Red beat Team Atlantic 5-0. In an exciting final, Team Ontario Red got off to a 2-0 lead on goals by Rebecca Johnston and Vicki Bendus. Quebec made it close with a goal in the third, but Ontario's solid team played made Bendus' goal stand up for the win. Vicki's stick and gloves will go into the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto.

2005 U18 Champions

Congratulations to Team Ontario Blue on an excellent championship.In the first game, Team Ontario Blue lost despite a very solid performance against Quebec. Quebec won 3-2 with all three goals on power plays. Team Ontario Blue came back to defeat B.C, by a score of 3-2. The third game of the round robin was an excellent contest between team Ontario Blue and Team Atlantic with Atlantic winning 2-1. The loss put Team Ontario Blue into the relegation game where they got off to an early 3- 0 lead but lost 5-4 to Team Alberta.

Preliminary camps for the Under-18 National Championship will take place this summer (August 12th-14th & September 9th-11th). Eligible OWHA players, who feel they have the necessary skills, values and commitment, are encouraged to apply for participation in the process.

It is important for players and parents to read, understand and ensure compliance with the complete player eligibility requirements prior to applying.

OWHA registered Players born in 1988, 1989, 1990 and 1991


Application forms are attached and are available on the OWHA web site at www.owha.on.ca. Please read the forms thoroughly for additional eligibility and program information.

  • ELIGIBLE PLAYERS BORN IN 1988 may ONLY apply for the Under-18 National Championship  and must submit APPLICATION “A”
     
  • ELIGIBLE PLAYERS BORN IN 1989, 1990 & 1991 inclusive may apply for the selection process for both events by submitting BOTH APPLICATION “A” and APPLICATION “B” Important Note: Players interested in both events will only attend ONE “preliminary” camp. Players will be evaluated at these camps to determine if they qualify to advance in the selection process for either or both events. This will save the player the cost of attending two preliminary camps.
     
  • ELIGIBLE PLAYERS BORN IN 1989, 1990 & 1991, who wish to apply for the Canada Winter Games Team only, are asked to submit APPLICATION “B”. If qualified, the player will be invited to attend a preliminary camp this winter or spring.
     
  • ELIGIBLE PLAYERS BORN IN 1992 are eligible for the 2007 Canada Winter Games team only and are asked to submit APPLICATION “B”. Players born in 1992 are NOT eligible to attend the August and September 2005 camps but may be invited to a later, Preliminary Canada Winter Games Camp.
