2026 OWHA U16 HIGH PERFORMANCE (HP) PROGRAM INFORMATION
OWHA PRELIMINARY U16 HP IDENTIFICATION TRYOUT CAMP
ONTARIO SUMMER GAME
The OWHA U16 High Performance Program is designed to introduce female hockey athletes to the High-Performance setting. This program offers OWHA athletes an opportunity to participate in a one-day OWHA High Performance Preliminary Identification/Tryout Camp and possibly be selected to participate in the Ontario Summer Games that will take place in Waterloo, ON from July 30th to August 2nd, 2026, with an OWHA pre-competition camp starting on July 28th, 2026.
The OWHA U16 High Performance Preliminary Identification/Tryout Camps will offer a highly competitive tryout process through a one-day game competition.
This program is through a player application process. OWHA U16 HP Preliminary Identification/Tryout Camps are open to all athletes registered within the OWHA who qualify under the age restrictions, meet the additional qualifications below, and feel they have the skills to compete at this level.
It is the responsibility of the participant to identify when these camps will take place and apply before the deadline.
Please see at the bottom of this document the dates and locations for the OWHA U16 HP Preliminary/Tryout Camps in May 2026.
OWHA U16 HP PRELIMINARY IDENTIFICATION/TRYOUT CAMP INFORMATION
- OWHA athletes who meet the age restrictions will have the opportunity to apply through an application process to attend an OWHA U16 HP Preliminary Identification/Tryout Camp in hopes of being selected to participate in the Ontario Summer Games in July/August 2026.
- Only athletes who are accepted to the OWHA U16 HP Preliminary Identification/Tryout Camp will be considered for the Ontario Summer Games in July/August 2026.
- To qualify and possibly be selected for the Ontario Summer Games in July/August 2026, athletes must participate in the OWHA U16 HP Preliminary Identification/Tryout Camp selection process in May 2026.
- OWHA evaluations out of the OWHA U16 HP Preliminary Identification/Tryout Camps will be the only determining criteria for selection to the Ontario Summer Games in 2026, evaluations completed by non-OWHA assigned individuals will NOT be part of the selection process.
- This opportunity is open to Ontario residents only, athletes applying must be registered within the Ontario Women’s Hockey Association.
- Players must be registered with and actively play on an Ontario Women’s Hockey Association team during the 2025-2026 season and must register with the OWHA in the 2026-2027 season to be eligible to attend the OWHA U16 High Performance Identification/Tryout camp in May 2026.
- Players must be prepared to make a full commitment to the program, this includes but is not limited to attending the May 2026 OWHA U16 HP Preliminary Identification/Tryout Camp in its entirety.
THE ATHLETE AGE GROUP THAT IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY FOR THE OWHA U16 HP PRELIMINARY IDENTIFICATION/ TRYOUT CAMPS
- The OWHA U16 HP Preliminary Identification/Tryout Camps are open for athletes born in the years 2011 - 2012 ONLY.
- If you believe you may qualify as a potential team member for one of the May 2026 camps, we encourage you to apply for the OWHA U16 HP Preliminary Identification/Tryout camps.
OWHA U16 HP PRELIMINARY IDENTIFICATION/TRYOUT APPLICATION INFORMATION
- All participants wishing to attend the OWHA U16 HP Preliminary Identification/Tryout camps in May 2026 must apply online.
- Athletes will only be selected to attend one preliminary camp in May 2026.
- ONLY ONLINE APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED.
- Applications must be received by the Ontario Women’s Hockey Association by no later than 11:59 pm on March 10, 2026.
- Please keep in mind that this is an application process, not a registration process, attendance at one of the camps is not guaranteed.
- Athletes wishing to attend one of the OWHA U16 HP Preliminary Identification/Tryout Camps are encouraged to apply early as camps have filled up quickly in past years.
- The OWHA reserves the right to make the final decisions on all athletes wishing to participate in the OWHA U16 High Performance Program.
- The OWHA does not support non-sanctioned hockey, including spring/summer hockey, at any time and therefore will not make exceptions for camp dates due to non-sanctioned hockey events. There is no support for non-sanctioned hockey activities and OWHA/Hockey Canada insurance is only in place for sanctioned hockey activities.
OWHA U16 HP PRELIMINARY IDENTIFICATION/TRYOUT CAMP DETAILS
IMPORTANT NOTICE:
- All players are to arrange their own transportation and accommodation to and from the OWHA U16 HP Camps, the OWHA takes no responsibility for costs in relation to transportation, meals, or accommodation.
- Meals will not be provided by the OWHA during the one-day camp, athletes are responsible for their own breakfast before arriving at camp, lunch, dinner, and any snacks they wish to consume during camp
- It is mandatory that all athletes arrive at the arena as per their identified team registration time and remain with their team for all scheduled events. Athletes are permitted to sign out for meals with a parent, guardian or pre-approved adult and must sign back in for their next scheduled event.
- Ice time, jerseys, pre camp presentation, on ice/off ice officials are all included in the participant’s registration fee for the preliminary camp.
- Athletes attending the OWHA U16 HP Preliminary Camps will NOT receive feedback, or an evaluation of their on-ice performance at camp, this information is confidential and for OWHA internal use only.

OWHA Preliminary U16 High Performance Identification/Tryout Camp Cost
$200.00
Payable upon acceptance to a camp.
Additional fees will be applied to players successfully selected for the 2026 Ontario Summer Games.

Applications must be received no later than March 10th, 2026, at 11:59 PM.
NOTIFICATON OF SUCCESSFUL ATHLETES SELECTED TO ATTEND THE ONTARIO SUMMER GAMES IN 2026
- Successful athletes selected by the OWHA to attend the Ontario Summer Games will be notified of their acceptance by June 15, 2026. Athletes will be notified through email, please make sure you provide your correct email address to the OWHA when applying for the OWHA U16 HP Preliminary Identification/Tryout Camp.
- Please note that only successful athletes selected out of the OWHA U16 HP Preliminary/Identification Camps and invited to participate in the Ontario Summer Games will receive an email, if you do not receive an email from the OWHA by June 15, 2026, then you were not selected for the Ontario Summer Games.
- Once the athlete selection process for the Ontario Summer Games is completed the OWHA will continue to pass along additional information on the Ontario Summer Games as it becomes available.
2026 ONTARIO SUMMER GAMES INFORMATION AND IMPORTANT DATES
- Location: Waterloo
- Ice arena: (Rim Park, Waterloo, Ontario)
- OWHA OSG’S Pre Camp > Tuesday, July 28 and Wednesday July 29, 2026, Athletes would be expected to arrive in Waterloo, Ontario for their scheduled registration time.
- Women’s Ice Hockey competition at the Ontario Summer Games runs from July 30 to August 2, 2026.
- Additional information as per the Ontario Summer Games will be sent out to selected athletes as information becomes available.
- Please keep in mind that athletes will not be permitted to participate in more than one sport at the Ontario Summer Games if selected to play ice hockey by the OWHA.
- Approximately $1500.00 for the Ontario Summer Games (in addition to the $200.00 for U16 Preliminary/Identification Camp fee).
