2026-2027 OWHA U18 HIGH PERFORMANCE PROGRAM
ONTARIO WOMEN’S HOCKEY ASSOCIATION 2027 CANADA WINTER GAMES INFORMATION
The Ontario Women’s Hockey Association will be selecting one team to represent the OWHA and compete at the 2027 Canada Winter Games in Quebec City, QC.
HOW ARE ATHLETES SELECTED TO ATTEND THE OWHA U18 CANADA WINTER GAMES JULY 2026 DEVELOPMENT/TRYOUT CAMP
The Ontario Women’s Hockey Association will be hosting a camp July 9-12, 2026, as part of the OWHA selection of athletes to participate on Team OWHA at the Canada Winter Games.
This camp is for OWHA registered athletes and is by invitation only.
Athletes born in the birth years 2009-2010 will be eligible to be invited to the OWHA U18 Canada Winter Games July 2026 Development/Tryout Camp.
Athletes selected to attend the July 2026 camp will receive an invitation by no later than Monday, June 8, 2026.
Note - only athletes selected to attend the above-mentioned camp will be contacted by the OWHA on or before Monday, June 8, 2026.
The OWHA provides an opportunity for selected athletes to participate in an OWHA U18 High Performance July 2026 Development/Tryout Camp and possibly be selected to represent the OWHA at the Canada Winter Games.
HOW ARE ATHLETES SELECTED TO ATTEND THE OWHA U18 CANADA WINTER GAMES JULY 2026 DEVELOPMENT/TRYOUT CAMP
OWHA athlete selection, and invitation to attend the OWHA U18 Canada Winter Games July 2026 Development/Tryout camp is completed through extensive scouting/evaluation of athletes. Athletes are scouted/evaluated at OWHA sanctioned events. OWHA selection criteria is utilized in the evaluation of athletes.
NUMBER OF ATHLETES THAT WILL BE INVITED TO THE OWHA U18 CANADA WINTER GAMES JULY 2026 DEVELOPMENT/TRYOUT CAMP
Approximately 80 athletes will be invited to attend the OWHA U18 Canada Winter Games July 2026 Development/Tryout Camp.
Athletes must be registered and play on an Ontario Women’s Hockey Association team during the 2025-2026, and 2026-2027 seasons to be eligible to be invited and attend the OWHA U18 Canada Winter Games July 2026 Development/Tryout Camp.
Note - OWHA reserves the right to bring an athlete into the CWG selection process at any time leading up to the final selection of athletes for Team OWHA.
STEPS 1 TO 5 BELOW OUTLINES THE PATHWAY OF THE SELECTION PROCESS FOR THE OWHA U18 CANADA WINTER GAMES SELECTION PROCESS
Step # 1
Approximately 80 athletes will be invited to attend the OWHA U18 Canada Winter Games July 9-12, 2026, Development/Tryout Camp. This camp will take place in Alliston, Ontario (Nottawasaga Resort).
Step # 2
Approximately 40 athletes out of the OWHA U18 Canada Winter Games July 9-12, 2026, Development/Tryout Camp will be selected/invited to attend a final try-out camp October 9-11, 2026, in Alliston, Ontario (Nottawasaga Resort). Athletes will be notified by no later than Wednesday, September 23, 2026, of their acceptance to participate at the October 2026 camp. Only successful athletes out of the July 2026 camp will be notified. If you do not hear from the OWHA by the date mentioned above, you were not invited to the October camp.
Step # 3
After the completion of the October 9-11, 2026, camp athletes will continue to be monitored/evaluated by the OWHA.
Step # 4
The OWHA will make their final selection of 20 athletes to participate at the Canada Winter Games in Quebec City. Successful athletes selected to participate at the Canada Winter Games will be notified by the OWHA no later than Monday, December 14, 2026.
Step # 5
The OWHA will have a pre camp(s). Details of camp(s) will be forwarded to athletes upon notification of being selected to Team OWHA.
